Experience the art of linocut printing at ALPERT ATELIER, a welcoming art studio established in 2006 in the heart of Cihangir, Beyoğlu, İstanbul. Our workshops provide a warm and inviting atmosphere where you can learn the craft alongside our friendly feline companions. All the necessary materials are provided, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable creative process. Under the guidance of professional gravure artist Ari Alpert, you will learn the techniques of carving and printing, from preparing your design to creating your own unique print.

Engraving, which is passed into our language from the word "gravure" in French and is also used in printing, refers to the art of engraving painting in the artistic sense and is also called "carved printing".





Linoleum; It is a kind of base material made of hemp weaving, plastered with oil, natural resin, fungus powder, sawdust, limestone. In the linoleum printing technique, the selected visual material is carved on the linoleum with cutting knife and then painted through printing ink and rollers. During the printing process, the high parts are passed to the paper, not the places carved. In this sense, it is necessary to do the carving process based on the negative of the image we want to pass on paper.





The materials needed for linoleum printing will be prepared for each participant;





  • One sheet of linoleum cut in size 10.5x15 cm
  • Linoleum cutting blade (possibility of purchase)
  • Paper to be printed on
  • Wooden spoon to be used during the printing process - Ink




Participants can work the ready-made images they will choose in the workshop, the images they have prepared in accordance with the carving process and the ratio of 10.5 x15 cm as in the example, or the pattern directly on the linoleum with a marker pen.





In our workshop, after a brief information about the selection and preparation of the image to be printed, our participants, who will experience all the processes and practices related to printing accompanied by the engraving artist Ari Alpert, will have the chance to produce a small and edition series to gift to their loved ones on their own or special days.

    Linolyum Nedir?





    Fransızca’daki “gravure” sözcüğünden dilimize geçen ve

    matbaacılıkta da kullanılan bir teknik olarak gravür, sanatsal anlamda kazıma resim sanatını ifade eder ve “oyma baskı” olarak da adlandırılır.





    Linolyum; beziryağı, doğal reçine, mantar tozu, talaş, kalker ile sıvanmış, kendir dokumasından yapılan bir çeşit taban
    malzemesidir. Linol baskı tekniğinde, seçilen görsel materyal kesme bıçağı yardımıyla linol üzerine oyulur ve ardından matbaa mürekkebi ve merdaneler aracılığı ile boyanır.
    Baskı işlemi sırasında oyulan yerler değil, yüksek kısımlar kağıda geçer. Bu anlamda, oyma işlemini kağıda geçmesini
    istediğimiz görselin negatifini esas alarak yapmak gerekir.

    • Linolyum kesme bıçağı
    • Üzerine baskı yapılacak kağıt
    • Baskı işlemi sırasında kullanılacak tahta kaşık
    • Mürekkep
    • One 10.5x15cm cut linoleum sheet Linolium cutting knife Paper to be printed on Wooden spoon to be used during printing




    Katılımcılar atölyede seçecekleri hazır görselleri oyma
    işlemine ve 10.5x15cm oranına uygun halde hazırladıkları
    görselleri ya da marker kalem ile doğrudan linolyum üzerine
    çizecekleri deseni çalışabilirler. 





    Participants can work on the  images they will choose in the workshop, prepared in accordance with the engraving process and the ratio of 10.5x15cm, or the design they will draw directly on the linoleum with a marker pen.
